Division I coach Lute Olson (coach of the University of Arizona Wildcats), ten former all-star college basketball players, and three referees demonstrate and explain various rules, strategies, plays and calls to help new spectators to the college and international (not NBA pro) game enjoy it more. Divided into topics covering the court, game structure, offense and defense, and officiating, the program starts with Olson on-court leading players in slow action play to describe the four court areas. Each player introduces himself and provides insightful information on his position and individual vs. team responsibilities. Slow-action and game- speed scrimmage footage are used to familiarize viewers with the basic offensive and defensive patterns. Inventive graphics and "personalized" commentary from the players and officials make this a great program for upper elementary and junior high basketball programs as well as public library collections. Highly recommended. (J. Scholtz)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
