"Natural-born citizen, 35 years old, has resided in the United States for more than 14 years." Did you know that's all a potential President's résumé would have to say? The qualifications for the Commander-in-Chief aren't terribly complicated, but the process of obtaining the office is a bit complex, and this excellent video explains the history and workings of the system by which the American people elect their leader every four years. Beginning with an explanation of how the 3-branch system of government works, followed by looks at the electoral college, political parties, national conventions, and campaigns, the program defines and de-mystifies the election process in easy-to-follow 2-3 minute segments. A few fun facts are thrown in along the way, and the accompanying curriculum reviews and expands on what was learned. Especially timely in this national election year, this is highly recommended for those without similar fare such as Electing a President (VL-1/96). Aud: I, J. (E. Gieschen)
