In the opening moments of this program, we meet Sheldon D. Joppru, a former automobile dealership owner who taught seminars to other salespeople on how to get the most money from prospective car buyers, and is now prepared to pass this information along to the consumer. If we ignore the ethical implications here (and this being America, circa 1989, we more or less have to), the ensuing hour-long program is chock full of useable information that the consumer can arm him or herself with before buying a car. After stating that the average car buyer will spend between $500-$5,000 more than is necessary, Joppru takes a sample case, and shows how extra monies are tacked on at each stage of the negotiations, and then instructs viewers in the ways of obtaining information about car prices, bank loans, etc.; bargaining for the trade-in; choosing the best dealerships; how to handle the test drive; negotiating the best deal with the car salesperson; figuring the monthly payments; understanding the add-ons and extended warranties; and how to transfer the same principles over to buying a used car. Viewers stand to save a considerable wad of dough by watching this tape, which includes a 12page reproducible booklet (with some forms). Highly recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
