After hearing numerous requests for a Georgia Bonesteel quilting tape, to and behold, one dropped right in our lap, so to speak. Lap Quilting With Georgia Bonesteel features the well known author and television instructress demonstrating how to make three different lap quilts: the Carnival, True Blue, and Garden Party quilts. The main portion of the program is devoted to creating the Carnival quilt, composed of the triangular "going my way" patches of cloth. Viewers learn how to make and transfer templates, piece blocks and borders, transfer stencils and hand quilt, and assemble both rows and blocks. Constant close-ups, inset photography, and steady narration make this an excellent instructional program, admirably suited to video's capabilities. A booklet which outlines quilting terms, lists supplies needed, and contains the patterns necessary for the quilts is included. Librarians may want to make a copy of the patterns, and keep the original as an archive, since the tape requires use of the booklet. Highly recommended. (Available from most major distributors.)
