You can make an infinite variety of cushions and pillows simply by modifying six common elements: stuffing, size and shape, fabric, closures, seam embellishments and corner treatments. Clare Driscoll demonstrates how this is done by taking us through a number of projects of increasing complexity, ranging from simple throw pillows to cushions for patio furniture. From the first measurement to the final stitch, each element is clearly demonstrated, with plenty of close-up photography to clarify tricky procedures such as inserting a zipper and matching plaids. Despite occasional distracting and intrusive noise from machine attachments, beginners and accomplished pillowsmiths alike should find this informative and useful. A worthy prequel to Learn to Make Slipcovers, (VL-5/95). Aud: P. (J. Reed)
