Sure to aid the parents of the more than 4 million American kids who suffer from asthma today, this high quality production discusses the importance of establishing a good working relationship with the child's physician, outlines the responsibilities of both the doctor and the patient, looks at the various types of asthma medicine and inhalers currently being prescribed, suggests strategies for controlling asthma triggers, and offers tips for managing asthma symptoms (and recognizing when the situation warrants emergency care). While not as detailed as 1988's Asthma Kids (VL-1/90), Managing Childhood Asthma is an excellent overview of the subject which is also much more up-to-date. Highly recommended. (R. Pitman)
