"Video is part of our lives." This trite statement kicks off this ironically lackluster offering. For starters, this video doesn't spend enough time convincing the viewer why a video resume is worth the expense and where an unemployed person is going to obtain the capital to create one. The program runs through the process of deciding on a shoot location, framing yourself, and editing. But advice like "be objective; don't be too critical of yourself" rings hollow. The lack of examples is frustrating (pieces of video resumes are shown, but can't be heard because the narrator is yammering over the top of them). At the same time this video would be tempting for academic libraries/career centers because the price is right and the idea is trendy. Unless there is an existing demand for this material, this is one to skip. (A. Laker)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
