Master Wu's philosophy: 1) Patience is Virtuous; 2) Martial Arts = "The Way to Stop Fighting;" 3) Master Ourselves Not Others. Master Wu's application of philosophy: POW POW POW. HYAH. I found this tape almost comical in its contrasts--the master's humble, self-effacing demeanor and his explosions into violent kicks, jabs and punches; his mumbled aphorisms about humility and respect and the endless promotions for buying the rest of the 53 (!) tape series. Not so funny is the lack of information. Master Wu demonstrates plenty of kicks and punches and says how important stance is, but he never actually explains how to do it. And he rarely slows down long enough for a viewer to even attempt imitation. There is very little substance to his discussions on zen and tai chi, mostly the idea here consists of bowing before beating someone senseless. Not recommended. (E. Druda)
