"A video made for the day your child asks, ‘Where do babies come from, Mom?'" And, folks, if this tape had only answered that question, how grateful Mom might be. Unfortunately, though, we get instead a poorly-made home video of a cat delivering four kittens, accompanied by such illuminating biological insights as "I'm not too familiar with cats; it's the first one I've owned," "Meau-Meau found herself a boyfriend [who] got what he wanted and took off," and "I don't think they found the faucets." I will admit that the shots of actual kitten-birth are tightly filmed, even if the narrator DID have to leave the scene to fetch his "damn" camcorder, but, Lord, what I wouldn't have given for even a single fact about sex, pregnancy, labor, birth, or postpartum development. Decidedly unsuitable for library collections. Aud: I, J, H, P. (K. Glaser)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
