This is the shopping list kind of tape, where after a brief introduction, we go through a series of questions and answers, each illustrated by live-action segments. Not boring enough to put the baby to sleep, but soothing and reassuring enough for nervous parents, this formula works pretty well. A nurse gives tips for getting the new little prince or princess home, and what to expect once you get there. A kindly pediatrician addresses general concerns about doctor visits. An expert discusses bottle vs. breast feeding. Baby safety is explored, and a family therapist talks about sibling and husband jealousy, and how to cope with feelings of ambivalence, anxiety and depression. No punches are pulled--viewers will see a real dirty diaper being changed and a tiny, slippery, screaming infant being bathed; and the babies are genuine: red and rashy and wiggly and adorable. Facts about car seats and new information about SIDS and sleeping positions are up-to-date. Recommended. (E. Druda)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
