In Playtime for Toddlers, one of four titles in Baby Playtime's mother-and-baby play series, host Erynn Dalton leads babies through their paces, demonstrating games and skill-building activities for ten-to-fifteen-month-olds (unendingly referred to as "little ones"). While Dalton's singing is rather flat and her puppetry skills somewhat amateurish, the program does offer plenty of good advice for physical and mental exercises (provided here via onscreen graphics, as well as in the accompanying pamphlet). Oddly, the “how to use this tape” section is placed at the end of the program, and features the same taped footage viewers have just seen. Given the less-than-sparkling singing and amateur puppetry on display here, this program would likely drive a parent insane if shown over and over at home, but as a public library offering, it might well provide some good playtime ideas before being quickly returned. The other titles in the series are: Playtime for Babies, Playtime for Creepers, and Playtime for Newborns. Optional. Aud: K, P. (R. Reagan)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
