Serious anglers are gonna love these two tapes on fly tying, presented by master fisherman Poul Jorgensen. Author of five best-selling books (including Poul Jorgensen's Book On Fly Tying and Dressing Flies for Fresh and Salt Water), Jorgensen is as adept at teaching in front of the camera as he is on the page. Both videos follow the same format: Jorgensen gives a brief introduction concerning the fly he is about to tie (special attributes, intended uses, etc.) and then the camera zooms in on the craftsman's hands as he sets to work. Volume 1 covers nymphs (the Caddis Pupa, Mayfly Nymph, and Stonefly Nymph), dry flies (the Adams, Cutting Parachute Dun, Mayfly Spinner, and Elk Hair Caddis), and terrestrials (the Foam Beetle, Foam Ant, and Le Tort Hopper and Cricket). Volume 2 covers streamers (the Muddler, Black Nose Dace, and Clouser Style), steelhead flies (the Chartreuse Wet Fly, Purple Wooly Bugger, Steelhead Dry Fly, and Poul's own Jorgensen Surfer), and Atlantic salmon flies (the Blue Charm Hair-Wing and Green Highlander Hair-Wing). Needless to say, the close-up video instruction in fly tying is much easier to follow than the print version, and the production values are excellent throughout both tapes. Highly recommended.
