Too often, bullying is treated lightly by adults: “Oh, it's just kids being kids, they'll work it out.” However, as the interviews with psychologists, teachers, police officers, and kids themselves in Put the Brakes on Bullying emphasize, unchecked bullying can often lead to criminal behavior as the child gets older. Addressing the seriousness of the imbalance of power, the program describes bullying in psychological terms, offering tips for identifying young aggressors, while underscoring the consequences bullying can have on both the bully and the victim. Although this program can be viewed by students, the content tends to be more geared towards an adult audience, as practical actions for reducing bullying--such as monitoring school bathrooms--are discussed, as well as gender differences in types of bullying.
