Dr. Janet Keeney-Valenza is the host for this informative, yet very low-budget, sports medicine video which takes a preventative approach to running injuries. Combining interviews with professional runners and physicians together with simple graphics and lots of running footage, the program addresses the "six major causes of running injuries": accidents, muscle imbalances, shoe problems, training errors, nutritional problems, and structural problems. The interviews are poorly handled both visually and sound-wise--background hum, and wind across the mike are common, while the camera operator often seems to be trying to frame the shot (so there's a lot of playing with the zoom button, which is distracting). The filmmakers--who are physicians not video professionals--made the common error of trying to do the production themselves. Unfortunately, it shows throughout. Good information, poor presentation. Not recommended. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
