A workshop presentation designed to help committed Christians enrich their connection with God and deepen their connection with others, Seven Keys to Spiritual Renewal features Steve Arterburn, an effective speaker, who establishes a good rapport with his audience and presents his material in a clear, genuine, empathetic manner. In each of the seven "key" segments, Arterburn catches viewer interest with a symbolic prop, and personalizes the lesson through anecdotes about his own experience and case studies, as well as quotes from the Bible and scholarly sources. Each step builds upon the last: seeking God through Surrender; seeing truth through Acceptance; speaking truth through Confession; owning up to one's problems through Responsibility; releasing the past through Forgiveness; redeeming the past through Transformation; and maintaining your spiritual gains through Preservation. While clearly not in favor of any alternative to Christian counseling, Arterburn is sensitive to the limits of his program and recommends professional counseling when needed. A practical approach to putting mistakes and painful experiences behind you, and reaching out to others, all within a context of religious belief, this is a program which mainstream Christians will find both inspiring and useful.
