A low-budget reference guide to perennial flowers, this overview to some 50 different flowers and grasses opens with too-brief preliminary advice from narrators Donna Vinelli Williams and Jim Vinelli, Jr. on the subjects of soil preparation, watering, planting, and dividing (delivered in straight, no-graphics, talking-head style). After the brief introduction, viewers see video clips (of varying quality) of each flower presented alphabetically while one of the narrators offers voice-over information on blooming times, planting distances, sun or shade preferences, etc. Because the visual medium offers no improvement here over a good reference book, the latter is recommended. The video is an optional purchase, at best. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
