"Be a friendly Floridian, put on a Sunshine Grin..." the Florida Tourist Board used to say in ads run during the 1960s that showed a map of the state wearing sunglasses and sporting a big grin at Tampa Bay. They urged Floridians to be welcoming, but now it seems they're the ones sticking prospective tourists with $20 promotional videos of the state. Even at $19.95, this tape, "a licensed product of Visit Florida," seems awfully steep considering that nearly all the footage from the theme parks is canned promotional material, as are the shots of the major motel chains, and the NASA stuff is government property. The tour starts in the Orlando area, goes to Cape Canaveral, north to Daytona and St. Augustine, west to the Suwannee River, south to Tampa Bay, across Alligator Alley to Miami, and down to the Keys. Optional fare for libraries in the eastern snowbelt. Aud: P. (R. Reagan)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
