In this companion video to The Choice of a Lifetime: Education Before Motherhood (VL-3/98), filmmaker Renee McCormick introduces viewers to a group of six young fathers who belong to a support program. The young men talk about how they arrived in their present circumstances, their relationships with their fathers, mothers, and girlfriends, and how finding a place for inspiration and the exchange of ideas has changed their lives. Viewers will learn important factors in helping to curb teen fatherhood, including the need for decent male role models, education, goals, community involvement, honesty and communication in relationships, and the courage to choose wisely. This straightforward film would be a good choice for social workers, guidance counselors, and young men at risk everywhere...if not for the price (why the "motherhood" title should have been priced at $95 and this same-length title at $215 is a bit of a mystery). Recommended only for subject collections. A less expensive choice here would be Cambridge Educational's Teen Dads' Point of View (VL-3/95), priced at $79.95. Aud: J, H. (E. Druda)
