Silly me thinking this was some kind of exercise video. When they say cross training, they mean Cross training. Getting your Christian soul in shape by drawing strength from God. With zippy editing and a hip-hop host, we visit Bible-quoting athletes from all over the sports spectrum, including Stu Grimson from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Olympic decathlete Dave Johnson (and his earthly coach Terry Franson), and several L.A. Raiders. College sports are represented by athlete and scholar Kristin Brookens, who plays basketball for God (and Biola University.) In an "Attitudes" segment on alcohol abuse, lots of high school age students express an opinion on how stupid it is to drink (none of them ever do), even for non-Christians. The final segment presents Christian rock band The Distance, brought to us in full MTV-like glory. Obviously, this video is targeting teens and hoping to attract them to the Christian way of thinking. Libraries should, however, be sure to balance this with recruitment videos for other religions as well. An optional purchase for larger inspiration collections. (E. Druda)
