While many programs have been dedicated to the nuts and bolts of the job search (interviews, resumes, etc.), the challenges don't end when a young person lands that first dream (or nightmare?) job. Office politics, thorny ethical situations, juggling relationships--there's a lot more to the workplace than just punching a time card or quarterly reviews. In the three case studies presented here, a young employee is faced with a dilemma. Should Jim jeopardize his job or sacrifice his friendship with an irresponsible co-worker? Should Michelle do personal favors for her boss on company time? And does Barry have good reason to be angry or even quit when he's passed over for a promotion? Each segment is fairly well-acted and creatively shot (very refreshing to see tracking shots and overhead angles!), and the vignettes are left unresolved so viewers must think through the multi-layered issues for themselves. In a time when workplace ethics are commonly twisted, compromised, and left extremely gray, it is absolutely critical that students are prepared to make good, informed decisions before they are confronted with similar scenarios. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
