Choosing the right friends isn't something that happens naturally; it's a skill that needs to be learned. At an age when acceptance is everything and peer pressure is constant, kids need to be able to recognize when their "friends" aren't so great, and how to respond. This video is comprised of six vignettes presenting realistic situations in which a teen is confronted by negative peer pressure, unsafe circumstances, disrespect, etc. Each segment is followed by discussion questions which are designed to be used in conjunction with the teacher's guide (the video cannot be viewed alone to be effective; however, as a discussion starter, it's excellent). The realistic, up-to-date scenarios are not only well-acted, but also fairly complex, avoiding unrealistic black-or-white choices, and the program sports great production values. Recommended. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
