Three video vignettes illustrate the importance of "telling" in certain situations. In one scenario, a girl finally decides to reveal her knowledge that a classmate is going to be drubbed into the dirt after school; in another, a boy has second thoughts after he and his friend make fun of a kid dressed up in a traditional Kwaanza outfit; and, finally, an older girl debates whether to inform a younger boy's parents that he's "friends" with a man who gives him rides. As a youth guidance video, the skits are effective, the advice is good, and the messages are clearly presented. However, the price is a bit stiff, especially for basic lessons in common sense that are pummeled into kids brains' in a million different well-meaning TV shows. An optional purchase for flush middle school budgets. Aud: I, J. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
