At last, a video which actually reveals what the Y2K bug IS! In exhausting detail! For more than 10 minutes, with far more history than any but technophiles want or need to know! Seriously, though, while it gets off to a rather slow start, this video does offer clear, solid information on how the Y2K bug can affect your PC hardware and software, how to test your PC for Y2K compliance, and how to fix non-compliant machines (note--the video does not purport to give information on non-compliant software, which the producers correctly emphasize must be checked before fixing any hardware problems). Information is presented in a step-by-step fashion, with numerous screen shots of various points in the process. The program assumes minimal computer literacy (although viewers do need access to the Internet to download certain items), has a helpful FAQ section, and, best of all, offers you, yes, you, the ability to tell your friends and neighbors, "Why, yes, my system IS Y2K compliant; thank you for asking." Despite the talking head format, the content of this title is strong enough (and clear enough) to warrant recommendation. Aud: P. (J. Cichewicz)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
