Cleverly integrating old public domain footage from early Sherlock Holmes films (featuring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce), Your Medicare Benefits is an excellent guide through the bureaucratic jungle of Medicare Part a and Medicare Part B. Pairing questions from senior citizens with answers from the onscreen hosts (often with the aid of good graphics), the program offers detailed examinations of eligibility, costs, and coverage, as well as additional information about Medigap, P.R.O.s (Peer Review Organizations), and other aspects of the administrative process. The accompanying booklet carries a number-coded index (chapter numbers are used in the video for easy reference), and a state-by-state listing of Medicare carriers and intermediaries. This is the best program on the subject we've seen since Medicare: Understanding Your Benefits (reviewed in our May 1992 issue), and libraries without that video will surely want to consider this one (keeping in mind, of course, that pending health care reform could mean changes in the Medicare system). Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. (R. Pitman)
