A wearisome, puerile bit of anime nonsense, Arcade Gamer Fubuki revolves around the female title character, who possesses a "passionate gaming spirit within her heart" that fires up her courage during national arcade tournaments enabling her to defeat imposing challengers. Well, that and a pair of panties that somehow mesmerize opponents and cause them to lose. Yeesh. In this prolonged non-adventure, Fubuki takes on, among others, the cyborg Chizuru and acquits herself well, but the only saving grace in this brash silliness is that Fubuki is really quite bad at everything--she embarrasses herself playing baseball, for example--except video games: a sort of charming flaw, but not charming enough. Rated 13-up for violence and brief nudity, this dual-language disc also features music videos, storyboard comparisons, and a short featurette. Not recommended. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
