Originally a half-hour television series, this projected multi-part set of videos focuses on the unsolved mysteries of the world. In Volume 1, one of the most popular subjects is explored: U.F.O.'s. Viewers travel from Catalina Island, where a reported U.F.O. was later shown to be a small private plane, to Edinburgh, Scotland, where local resident, Bob Taylor, had an unexpected encounter with an unidentified object that left strange tractor tread marks-which are unexplained to this day. The second program, Strange Skies, further explores phenomena both past and present: the so-called canals of Mars and the planet Vulcan; as well as advancing possible solutions to such age-old mysteries as the "Star of Bethlehem". Volume 1 also includes an introductory half-hour overview entitled The Journey Begins. Given the nature of the material, and the popularity of sci-fi author Clarke, these tapes should be popular with library patrons. Recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
