“Some things never change,” bad-boy Dylan (Luke Perry) states in the series finale—nor would viewers have it any other way, as the end of a tumultuous decade finds the buff and beautiful characters of Beverly Hills, 90210 still buffeted by infidelities, betrayals, make-ups, and breakups. Indeed, the list of plot developments for this swan song 10th season from 1999-2000 is long: Dylan goes back to college; David (Brian Austin Green) becomes something of a shock jock; Christine Aguilera performs at the Peach Pit After Dark; Steve (Ian Ziering) wrestles with commitment issues before proposing to a pregnant Janet (Lindsay Price); drug dealers kidnap Noah (Vincent Young); Kelly (Jennie Garth) is engaged to Matt (Daniel Cosgrove) but still loves Dylan; Janet struggles with being a working mother; and Dylan discovers his father is still alive. And will David and Donna (Tori Spelling) ever get together? Spoiler alert: Yes, in the tearjerker wedding finale that brings back old 90210 vets Gabrielle Carteris, a chipper Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, and, via videotape, Jason Priestley. Compiling all 25 episodes, the only DVD extra is “The Final Goodbye,” a 2000 retrospective featurette. While this closing run may not rank among the series' best, it's recommended for larger collections in the interests of, uh, closure, although it's optional elsewhere. (D. Liebenson)
