Hyperactive Ned has a 500-lb secret pal--courtesy of magical Zippo Newt Food--called Newton, who looks and acts suspiciously like Robin Williams' Genie in Disney's Aladdin. Newton the Newt can transform into just about any size, shape, and voice with dizzying speed. Despite the obvious borrowing from Aladdin, the collected cartoons from the series here have a sweet flavor running through the typical chaos, and they do teach kids the most important lesson of all--use your imagination. Too, unlike many other TV cartoons, they don't rely on a heavy dose of violence. Recommended. Note: Duplicated in EP/SLP. Aud: P. (S. Fisher)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
