Valentine and Patrick are the two Catholic saints who have achieved universal recognition, and the latter is celebrated every 17th of March as people of all faiths drink green beer, march in Sons of Hibernia parades, and croon Irish ballads as if they had just stepped off the boat from County Cork. Patrick offers an intriguing look at Ireland's most famous saint, removing the myths (no snakes were driven out of Ireland) to present an even more fascinating true story narrated by Liam Neeson, with Gabriel Byrne as the voice of Patrick, and featuring commentary from Frank McCourt (Angela's Ashes). The son of a wealthy family who went to Ireland to spread the word of God, Patrick was captured and treated as a slave until he managed to escape, after which God spoke to Patrick and bade him to return to Ireland to complete his mission.
