Produced under the auspices of the Duke University Medical Center, this introduction to toilet training for children is...well...different. Meant to tell an entertaining story for children as it teaches, the program follows preparations for four-year-old Bobby's birthday party. As the kids prepare to go to the party, they make sure they go potty first. These bathroom interludes are signaled by colorful songs ("I use my potty when I have to pee") about using the toilet, wiping front to back, washing one's hands, and remembering to flush. There's even a suggestion to read, as one of the little girls passes her time on the potty with a Raggedy Ann book. Although parents might find some of the material pretty weird (the scene of beaming parents singing "she's a super duper pooper" ranks fairly high on the alternate universe scale), It's Potty Time is both sound and quite entertaining. By keeping matters simple, avoiding elaborate explanations, and relying on common slang, this program will most likely make potty time less stressful for all concerned. Highly recommended.
