The latest installment in Co Hoedeman's stop-motion animated tales about a lovable young teddy bear, Ludovic: Visiting Grandpa finds the young cub engaged in ordinary activities on a visit to his grandfather's house--feeding geese, working in the garden, baking cookies--as the pair try to cope with their underlying grief over the loss of Ludovic's grandmother. Although Ludovic's grandfather is initially depressed at the sight of his grandson dancing alone under his late wife's portrait (Ludovic imagines his grandmother joining him), he later comes to realize that Ludovic's celebration of the memory of his beloved grandmother is perhaps an early sign he's on the road to emotional recovery. A simple vignette about coming to terms with the loss of a loved one from a child's perspective, this is recommended. The other titles in the series are: The Snow Gift (VL-9/99) and A Crocodile in My Garden. Aud: K, E, P. (R. Pitman)
