I bought a copy of a remarkable little book entitled Mama, Do You Love Me? in 1991 (along with some 600,000 other folks), because it was a perfect lap book--a cuddle-up with me and I'll read you a story about how much I love you--kind of book. In the video adaptation of this wonderful children's tale, Sony Wonder has smartly retained the wonderful lyrical rhythm of the original and fleshed out the story with new material, beautiful animation, and music. Centered around a spring celebration in an Arctic village, this is the tale of a young Inuit child named Nyla who discovers that her mother's love is unconditional and boundless when she asks the age old question, "Mama, if I put salmon in your parka and ermine in your mittens and lemmings in your mukluks, would you be mad?" The answer of course is, "I'd be angry, dear one, but still I would love you forever and for always." An exceptional video based on a delightful book, I loved it "more than the dog loves his tail, more than the whale loves his spout." Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: K, E, P. (N. Plympton)
