Consistently chosen for Parent's Choice awards and ALA Notable citations for their outstanding children's recordings, the Seattle-based Tickle Tune Typhoon group here brings their joyful, infectious blend of clever and humane songs before a live audience of kids and parents. Dedicated to "the children of the earth and to the people who love and care for all living things," these bouncy tunes range in subject from environmental concerns ("Hug the Earth," "Garbage Blues") to healthy living ("Vega Boogie," "Pearly White Waltz"--that is, eat your veggies, and brush your teeth) to just plain fun songs ("Hokey Pokey," "Hug Bug", and "Sneakers"). One of the many highlights is the enthusiastic rendition of TTT lead vocalists Lorraine D. Bayes and Danny Deardorff's "Everyone is Differently Abled." Opposing the label "handicapped," the differently abled and quite gifted Danny Deardorff sings: "I will not be defined by my limitations/But rather by my possibilities." Guest drummer Alvin Law plays drums on this song--with his feet. An excellent program, with which we only have one small quibble. Although the video is "live", the music is not. It doesn't really hurt the program (actually the stereo soundtrack is quite clear and crisp--albeit from studio recordings). Highly recommended. (Available from: Baker & Taylor Video, 501 S.
