The dream of former circus star Brent van Rensburg, Zip Zap Circus is comprised of children aged 7 to 18 from Cape Town, South Africa, some of whom have lived on the streets. In their non-narrated performance entitled "No Kidding: a Tribute to Shorty," we see the trapeze, juggling, comedy, stick fighting, and rope climbing acts typical of most circuses, although there are no animal acts. However, I'm using the word "see" modestly: given this tape's dim lighting and poor camerawork, it's rather hard to enjoy Zip Zap's work. And, let's face it, kids of any age are just not going to have the physical finesse of adult performers, no matter how talented they are. And who the heck is Shorty, anyway? Though this tape is reasonably priced, its amateurish qualities render it unsuitable for library collections. Not recommended. Aud: K, E, I, J, P. (K. Glaser)
