You might know a Webmaster who can write HTML code and build home pages with the greatest of ease, but these talents pale next to those of a true "webmaster," the spider. Without any apparent instructions, spiders are able to construct intricate fine webs that would tax the imagination of an architect. They're able to do so through the wonder of animal instinct. Fine nature footage and voice-over narration are combined to illustrate various instinctual behaviors in animals, and the program explores the differences between instinct, involuntary actions, reflexes, and learning. The brown bear, for instance, hunts salmon (instinct), but he uses a wide array of methods for catching his prey (learning). A little old-fashioned in documentary style, this introduction is still recommended, with some reservations. Aud: E, I. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
