This low-budget video follows the creation of "New Year Dancer," an abstract bronze sculpture made by Professor Robert F. Blakley using the lost wax bronze casting method. It's a pretty detailed process, and so-so looking video with some rough edits coupled with voice-over narration doesn't really allow the viewer to "follow every step" as the box suggests. Nor is the professional terminology used in the video "appropriate for all levels of instruction." Embryo: The Art of Lost Wax Casting (reviewed in our May 1990 issue), although a documentary not a "how-to," is still a better introduction to the subject. Lost Wax Bronze Casting Explained is not a necessary purchase. (R. Pitman)
