Known as much, if not more, for her acting as her singing career (she starred on TV's "Eight Is Enough," and appeared in numerous feature films), Betty Buckley's voice is forever cemented in the popular imagination thanks to what she calls the "jewel" in her career: Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Memory" from the long running musical Cats. Filmed before a live audience at London's intimate Donmar Theatre as part of the "Divas at the Donmar" series, Buckley sings a generous 17-song/medley repertoire that draws from jazz and pop standards as well as the theatre, including "Not a Day Goes By," "Come Rain or Come Shine," "Answer Me My Love," "As If We Never Said Goodbye," "Fire and Rain" and "Send in the Clowns." Backed by a trio on percussion, piano and bass, Buckley's voice confidently ranges across the spectrum, while her personable anecdotes provide a laugh or two. Smaller music collections should consider this an optional choice, but this is recommended for larger collections. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
