Created by Catherine Millard, the founder and president of Christian Heritage Tours, Inc., this entry in a series of tours set in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. Relatively poor audio and video quality characterized Tour #2 which examines ten monuments and memorials in the nation's capital, including: The Washington Monument, The Lincoln & Jefferson Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Iwo Jima Memorial. The gist of the approach is this: a site is shown, while voiceover narration provides a minimum amount of background. Then a close-up highlights some portion of the writing on the plaque which generally is located somewhere on the site. A phrase drawn from a biblical passage is expanded upon with a full text quote from the verse, chapter, and book of the source entry in the Bible. What this proves is anybody's guess--but the antagonistic rhetoric of the closing of the program certainly seems to suggest that this "tour" proves something. The tape closes with some narrowly reasoned gibberish about the destructive forces at work trying to undermine the democracy and Christianity (the two completely separate categories are here, as is often the case, erroneously combined into one inviolate precept). Granted, there is a need for quality religious programming on video, this series is definitely not the answer to our prayers. Not recommended. (Available from:
