Children's illustrator Michael Hague is the subject of this informative biography/interview created by four Colorado Springs, CO high school students working with the Pikes Peak Library Video Studio. Narrated by Hague's daughter Brittany, the program combines bounteous examples of Hague's book illustrations with a brief history of his childhood, the influences on his work (Arthur Rackham and W. Heath Robinson), and comments from his wife, author Kathleen Hague. While the background music is sometimes a bit too loud for Hague's soft-spoken voice, devotees of children's literature will enjoy this program on one of our premier children's book illustrators, and the subject matter makes it a natural choice for public libraries. Recommended. (R. Pitman)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
