The 15th entry in filmmaker Jocelyn Riley's Her Own Words series (her last, Sisters & Friends was reviewed in VL-1/95), Women in Policing is similar to Women in Construction (VL-3/94) in format. Six women police officers and detectives describe some of the day-to-day activities of their jobs, the stresses and rewards of policework, and the differences between men and women in the profession, while a series of slides appear onscreen. Those libraries collecting the Her Own Words series will probably want to add this; for others it's an optional purchase. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
