"Don't be callin' my bitch no ho'." And they say that chivalry is dead. Murder Was the Case: The Movie is a laughable 18-minute featurette, which comes at the end of a handful of Snoop Doggy Dogg videos (including "Gin & Juice," and "Doggy Dogg World") and interview clips with gangsta rapper Calvin Broadus (a.k.a. Snoop Doggy Dogg). Broadus, who is surprisingly soft-spoken, offers his views on rap, violence ("I'm not wake-up-in-the-morning violent"), women and death. But the main attraction--Murder Was the Case, in which Snoop gets snuffed by a jealous boyfriend's homeboys--is purely B-movie fodder. More daring (and unsettling) is the tagged-on closing video "Natural Born Killaz" featuring Dr. Dre and Ice Cube as a pair of serial killers. The video jacket carries the tag "Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics," but the program also contains violence and nudity. Sure to be very popular, Murder Was the Case is an uneven hodgepodge affair. Purchase according to demand. (R. Pitman)
