From the writer of Dangerous Liaisons, and the director of The Secret Garden, and the Oscar-nominated star of What's Eating Gilbert Grape comes this...boxoffice flop. Leonardo DiCaprio is suitably obnoxious (and not much else) as the 19th century French poet Arthur Rimbaud. Tracing the tortuous relationship between Rimbaud and his lover/admirer Paul Verlaine (David Thewlis), the film doesn't so much reveal genius as paint a portrait of the artist as a young brat. Not recommended. (R. Pitman)
