A wonderful young Irish cast, strong writing from Colin Welland (Chariots of Fire), and a stirring soundtrack by Rachel Portman, make this "war" between neighboring villages of young (and testosterone-driven) lads a mostly fun and innocent romp. The Irish accents are very thick, but once your ear's accustomed, it's easy to sit back and enjoy this feud in which buttons, not lives, are the spoils of war. Recommended. (R. Pitman)
