The first in a projected series of videos in which young girls explore potential career choices, A Girl's World looks at a day in the life of a female airplane pilot, glass artist, and veterinarian. While viewers will get a reasonably good overview of each of the careers, the technical and informational qualities of the segments vary widely. The airplane pilot section offers little detail about the training involved or variety of piloting jobs available and spends too much time merely showing the cockpit during flight. The onscreen host advises viewers to listen closely during the segment on the glass artist because the factory noise almost drowns out the dialogue (but this is a production problem not a viewer problem). The vet segment is the best, though again no training information is given. A disappointing effort. Not a necessary purchase. Ages 6-12. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
