Master gardener Ruth Woods offers viewers an introductory course in backyard watergardening, including a step-by-step demonstration of how to install a 16 x 24 ft. pond using a vinyl liner base. The program covers digging methods, tips on liner arrangement, edging and backfilling suggestions (using lovely decorative rock for a pond border), and pointers on waterfall construction and filter placement. Once completed, new ponds can be the home of a wide variety of water plants, goldfish, and koi. While not as in-depth as Gardening Nature's Way: Pond Construction and Natural Filtration (VL-7/94), this simple, straightforward guide is less likely to confuse viewers, and the enclosed 16-page reference booklet provides more detailed information. As an inexpensive starter video which adequately covers the basics, this one's recommended. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
