Poor audio and so-so video qualities hamper this short guide to making bagels, presented by Dona Z. Meilach (author of The Best Bagels Are Made at Home, which is plugged on the video). Meilach shows viewers how to make bagels using a bread machine, food processor, mixer, and by hand. The problem is that anyone who knows how to use any or all of these implements in making dough and knows what a bagel looks like doesn't need to watch this program. A few recipes are included, but Meilach's book ($8.95 quality paperback), which offers over 70 recipes, looks to be the better choice here. Not recommended. Aud: J, H, P. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
