Looking for a job? Let your fingers do the walking...electronically. Armed with an Internet connection, a few key URLs, and a basic understanding of job search methodology, viewers will discover a whole new world (literally) of job opportunities. Connect on the Net: Finding a Job on the Internet offers a brief introduction to the net and online services, before launching into specific sites and strategies for the job seeker. Using basic search functions, viewers can narrow or broaden their scope, choosing, say, a particular aspect of the medical field to look for openings, or scanning the huge classifieds listing known simply as "The Monster Board." For those interested in a position that requires almost no actual work and provides the best job security around, there's "Fedworld," which offers a comprehensive listing of government employment opportunities. In addition, the video provides World Wide Web addresses for each of the medical, corporate, academic, government, and commercial job browsing sites, and some good tips on putting together an electronic résumé (which requires a different strategy than a paper résumé). A fine addition to the job search collection, and the first we've seen to specifically focus on using the net for finding employment, this is highly recommended. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
