How about this for a primo career choice: "Dinosaur Consultant." It's Don Glut's job and he's a darn good one. The man knows his Allosaurus from his Dryosaurus, and he shares some pretty interesting dino anecdotes in this travel guide to dinosaur parks and attractions across the U.S. and up into Canada. The first dinosaur park, which people can still see if they travel to England, opened in 1854; subsequent dinomania periods in the 1930s and 1950s resulted in more parks and attractions, leading up to today's major dino craze in the wake of Steven Spielberg's massively successful Jurassic Park. Viewers will see the extraordinarily life-like creatures on display at the George Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden, UT; the first American dinosaur park in Rapid City, SD (built by the WPA; Dinosaur Gardens in Ossineke, MI; and the displays at the Calgary Zoo in Southern Alberta. Bouncy songs like "Big Bad Rex," and "Dinosaur Tracks," as well as corny narration, and lots of towering dinosaur replicas make Dinosaurs Next Exit a surefire hit for ages 4-9. Recommended. (R. Pitman)
