Actress Kym Connor hosts this low-budget (as most guide-to-breaking-into-Hollywood titles are) intro for would-be stars, apparently shot in the backyard, featuring liberal footage of the Connor children (who also act). The program briefly covers agents, photos, resumes, auditions, and throws in a few extra tips. Although much of the information is solid, there are strange omissions--no mention is made of the fact that if you don't happen to live in the L.A. area, you should (if you plan to work in Hollywood), and the importance of reading trade magazines is mentioned (but no actual titles are given). More comprehensive and better filmed guides for novices on the market include How to Break Into Movies, Television & Commercials (VL-1/95) and How to Start a Career in Television, Movies & Commercials (VL-1/94). This one's not a necessary purchase. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
