Networking. Remember when human networking was all the rage. You went to various business and social functions, drank copious amounts of free alcohol, and every time you shook someone's hand you slipped them a Mickey Finn (if that happened to be the name on your business card). How the times have changed: Today, modern networkers are surfing the net, submitting resumes to huge monster boards (such as the Monster Board) and visiting company homepages to find out about job opportunities. Combining interviews with professionals in the burgeoning Internet career/job search field together with onscreen visits to various websites (such as www.fedjobs.com., where you can see the Pamela and Tommy Lee video...no, wait, that's at celeb.idiots.r.us--at www.fedjobs.com, you can find federal job listings), the program points out numerous avenues for job seekers to explore. Viewers will find tips on submitting online resumes (don't use":)" symbols), how to use search engines for job hunting, which online magazines are useful, how to take advantage of newsgroups, and more. Not a particularly flashy program, Networking on the WWW and Beyond will, nevertheless, be a real boon to job seekers looking for ways to really increase the reach of their job search. A good update to Cambridge Educational's earlier Connect on the Net: Finding a Job on the Internet (VL-1/96). Strongly recommended. Aud: J, H, C, P. (R. Pitman)
